Cookie Policy

Effective date: April 21, 2026.

This page explains how Cafelam uses cookies and similar technologies. It is meant to be read with our privacy policy, which covers the broader question of what personal data we handle.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Browsers send it back on later visits so the site can recognize you or remember a setting. “Similar technologies” include things like localStorage and pixel tags; the same principles apply.

What we use them for

Cafelam uses cookies in three rough categories.

  • Essential. These make the site work. They cover things like WordPress session handling for logged-in editors, security tokens, and preferences such as whether you have dismissed a cookie notice.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, which pages are read, and how readers find us. These cookies set a pseudonymous identifier. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles.
  • Performance and caching. Our hosting stack sets short-lived cookies to serve cached versions of pages where possible, which makes the site faster.

We do not currently run retargeting or cross-site advertising cookies. If that changes we will update this page before turning them on.

Your choices

Every modern browser lets you see cookies a site has set, delete them, and block future cookies from specific sites or categories. Check your browser’s privacy or settings menu. You can also use a browser extension to block analytics scripts if you prefer. Blocking essential cookies will break login and comment features. Blocking analytics will not affect your reading experience.

If you are in a region where consent is required before non-essential cookies load, we respect the standard Do Not Track signal and, where available, the Global Privacy Control signal. We do not deploy analytics cookies for readers whose browsers send these signals until they are dismissed by the reader.

Third parties

The main third party that sets cookies through Cafelam is Google, via Google Analytics and Google Search Console integration. Embedded content from third-party sites (for example a YouTube video or a social media post) may also set cookies when loaded. These are controlled by the third party’s own policies, not ours.

Retention

Cookies have their own expirations. Session cookies clear when you close the browser. Analytics identifiers generally persist for up to two years unless you clear them sooner. Essential preference cookies, such as a dismissed cookie notice, last for the period required to remember that preference, typically a year.

Changes

We will update this page when the cookies we use change in a meaningful way. The effective date at the top tracks material revisions. Questions go to hello@cafelam.com.
